‘As You Wave Me Goodbye’ is a portraiture project documenting the remaining men, women and children who experienced the Second World War. With each passing day the experiences of the Second World War Generation are passing from living memory, therefore the collection of these experiences is even more important to ensure they are protected and represented for generations to come.
Portraits of these individuals are accompanied by their stories and experiences during the Second World War before they are lost to history. The work incorporates the quiet portraits of these incredible men and women alongside archival images from the subject’s family archive and the photographers own. The photographer has captured the subject in an intentionally quiet, gentle and peaceful manner that contrasts greatly with the experiences and life they lived during the war years.
Shot on a Rolleiflex New Standard (1938-1941).
