While visiting Normandy for the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings we captured these images of the the ACME clicker with the kind assistance of ACME Whistles and Mr Kirt Tabberer.
On the eve of D-Day paratroopers from the 101st Airborne were issued the ‘Clickers’ as vital pieces of equipment. The clicker was used by paratroopers to identify if they were friend or foe. Due to the fact they were dropped behind enemy lines if they detected someone in the immediate vicinity they would send one click, if they received two in response that would indicate a friend.
